Build Your Own Social Networking Community?
I suppose the technology and support is now available to help you build your own social networking community. I haven’t looked into this, but I know forum scripts have been available, so why not social networking scripts, too?
It could be quite an undertaking, if you are serious about it and hope to compete with the numerous social sites that have already popped up over the past few years. But with the right script, an appealing social niche and some unique marketing, you just might be able to do it.
One thing is for certain: Social networking is popular! Everybody is into it and if people see a social networking community that looks new and exciting, they will want to check it out. If they like what they see, they might get actively involved and tell others about it. …
If you do some Internet searching for social networking scripts you should come up with a number of choices. Some may be more involved than others. I would look for one with a variety of user features, but that is not too complicated to install or administer: if you can find a script suitable for your interests and purposes that comes with tech support from the creator, even better. Some scripts are free while others may have a one-time cost or a monthly fee.
Before choosing a script, you should research it as you would any product or service. Examine the features and benefits and the installation and administration procedures, and read any available reviews on the script and the creator or provider. Check out several scripts to get a feel for what they each have to offer and how they compare to each other. Doing your due diligence now could save you some disappointment and aggravation later.
Aside from the technical aspects of setting up a social site, your biggest challenge might be getting members and motivating them to visit regularly and be active on the site. The visual appeal of the site is important, but what people really want are features that are easy to use and that serve a purpose, whether educational, entertaining or both.
Common on most social sites are features that let members add and share images, videos, profile information, business information, articles and other content, and more. As the site owner or administrator, you should also add relevant content and various other elements on a regular basis to keep the site fresh and appealing and beneficial for your members.
Once the members begin to realize how great the site is, they will start inviting others to check it out. Before long, you could have your own thriving social networking community and when membership goes viral, who knows where it will take you?
