Here is a convenient free resource I learned about from my Internet Marketing mentors that allows you to track your keyword rankings the easy way. You are going to appreciate this.

Most marketers know how important it is to market with keywords. For example, you identify certain keywords or keyword phrases that appeal to your target market – keywords that you know they search for in the search engines – and using those keywords, you write blog posts for your website, articles for the directories, and other content for places on the Internet like social networking sites.

When those posts get indexed by the search engines, they begin to appear in the SERPs (search engine results pages) and the closer they are to page one (and the top of page one), the more traffic those posts will get. . . .

When you post content in directories or other places on the Net, the purpose is typically to get a link back to your website and, hopefully, send more traffic to your site. Backlinks help your website and web pages rank better in the search engines and that, of course, can result in additional traffic.

Here’s the method I use to improve the keyword rankings of blog posts I want to promote.
Keyword Rankings
First, I will write a keyword-focused blog post and post it on my site, being sure to social bookmark it once it goes live.

Next, I will write an article for the directories that is on the same topic as the blog post, but with a different keyword phrase highlighted. When I post the article to a directory, I make sure to create an Author Resource Box that includes an anchor text link to my website, and an anchor text link to the actual blog post on my site. The anchor text for my website will be the primary keyword for the site. The anchor text for the blog page link will be the keyword phrase used in the blog post being promoted.

Once the article is accepted and posted live on the directory, I will begin tracking the keyword ranking of the blog post using the easy way to do it that I mentioned at the beginning of this article. Here it is:

I use the free Rank Checker tool found at

All you do is enter the keyword you want to check along with your domain (website). The Rank Checker will give you the results almost immediately. (You can check the keyword rankings of your competitors, too!)

The top 50 results are shown for Google and the top 40 for each of Yahoo! and Bing. If the link to your blog page is anywhere within the first five pages on Google, for example, you will see exactly where it ranks on the list. If your page is not on the list that means you’ve got some more promoting to do to get it there!

Or, if your page is on the list but not yet on the first page of the SERPs, and if you want to get it to the first page, then, again, you have some more promoting to do.

In addition to other methods of blog link promotion, some marketers will continue to submit additional articles to the directories, using their author resource box to point back to the blog page being promoted, until the blog link makes it to the first page of the SERPs.

In times past, when I wanted to know the rankings of my keywords, I used to go through the tedious process of searching the SERPs page-by-page to find my posts. Now I just use the free SEOCentro Rank Checker and that is how you can track keyword rankings the easy way, too!
