You don’t need your own website for Internet Marketing. You can use free blog sites, affiliate landing pages and other methods of marketing online. So, why go to the expense and responsibility of owning your own website?

I’m glad you asked! I have an opinion about that! My opinion is in favour of registering your own domain name and setting up your own website for marketing.

There are numerous reasons why this is a good idea and I will share a few of them here, today. If you are into Internet Marketing, or if you are considering the advantages and the income potential, read on! …

First of all, I think it is wise to have your own website because it shows that you are serious about building a business online and committed to doing it in a professional way.

When visitors and prospects see that you have your own site, they get the idea that you are active, available and stable. Socrates Website ThemeOn the other hand, if you are sending them to affiliate pages or other sites that are not directly yours, it could give the opposite impression. Wouldn’t you rather give people a positive impression of your intentions as a marketer?

It is okay to promote affiliate products and programs. That is how most marketers online make their money. But it is wise to set up your own website and use it as your base of operations online. Remember, once your site is set up, it is working for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Second, when you have a website, you can diversify your revenue streams. In contrast, when you use affiliate landing pages and websites, you are restricted in what you promote and how you promote it. If you are using a free blog site platform, again, there are certain restrictions on what you promote and how you present it.

If you are operating a site under your own domain name, you are free to advertise and promote a variety of products, services and programs. You call the shots. You say what goes. You can change what you market and promote anytime you want. That is freedom.

Third, when the site is yours, you have the option of collecting or capturing the contact information of your visitors. You simply cannot do that with affiliate sites. Sure, the affiliate company might capture their information and send follow-up messages on your behalf, and that’s a great thing. But you will have no idea who visited your affiliate page or how to contact them yourself for follow ups.

Setting up your own website means you can offer subscription incentives and add opt-in forms to invite and encourage your visitors to give you their name and email address. Then you can follow up later with additional information or offers or newsletter mailings.

Well, there you have three of my top reasons for registering your own domain name and setting up your own website for Internet Marketing. There are a variety of other reasons why it is a wise idea; perhaps I should write another post about it! We will see.
